JAKARTA, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia and Myanmar ended their opening game of Group B with a 1-1 draw at the AFF Under-22 LG Cup 2019 at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Monday, AFF said on its website.
Both two goals were scored at the first half. Myanmar netted the first goal 13 minutes into the match. Indonesia fought back and leveled the score in the 37th minute.
"The result is not important. And the first match in any tournament is difficult. But I am happy with the performance where we played a high pressure game to pick up the point," Myanmar head coach Velizar Popov said.
Indonesian team struggled at the start to withstand the pressure from their opponents. In contrast, Myanmar were all over their opponents as they seemed eager to put the huge defeat they suffered against the same side in a friendly last year behind them.
The second half saw Indonesia make several positional changes as they pushed forward in search of the winner.
"As I had predicted, Myanmar will for sure play a pressure game. It took us a while but we managed to adapt," said Indra Safri, coach of Indonesian team.
